Calle 13 tops Latin Grammy noms

Calle 13 received a record 10 nominations during the 12th Latin Grammy Awards nominee announcements on Sept. 14, 2011.Puerto Rican hip-hop duo Calle 13 lead nominations for the 12th Latin Grammy Awards with a record 10 nods. Mounted by the Latin Recording Academy, kudocast is set for Nov. 10 at Vegas' Mandalay Bay Events Center on Univision. Calle 13 -- stepbrothers Rene Perez Joglar and Eduardo Jose Cabra Martinez -- who took the 2009 album of the year Latin Grammy with Los de Atras Vienen Conmigo, repeat in the category this year with "Entren Los Que Quieran." The pair has collected 10 Latin Grammys to date. They are also competing for record of the year, song of the year and producer of the year; in the latter two categories, they share the nods with Rafa Arcaute, himself up in six slots. Venezuelan singer-songwriter Franco De Vita garnered five nominations, while Mexican composer Marco Antonio Solis collected our. Also up for album of the year are De Vita's "En Primera Fila," Spanish pop singer Enrique Iglesias' "Euphoria," Colombian superstar Shakira's "Sale El Sol" and multi-national trio Alex, Jorge Y Lena's self-titled album. Record of the year competitors include Calle 13's "Latinoamerica," De Vita and Alejandra Guzman's "Tan Solo Tu," Puerto Rican singer-cleffer Luis Fonsi's "Gritar," Mexican norteno group Los Tigres Del Norte's "Golpes En El Corazon" and Puerto Rican pop star Ricky Martin's "Lo Mejor De Mi Vida Eres Tu." Best new artist nominees are Spain's Pablo Alboran, Uruguay's Max Capote, Brazil's Paula Fernandes, Italy's Il Volo and Puerto Rico's Sie7e. Contact the Variety newsroom at news@variety.com
